Why all the Kidman hate?

November 28, 2008 at 3:41 pm (Australia, Entertainment) (, , , , )

Nicole Kidman, 41 year old actress, married to singer Keith Urban has been heavily criticized as of late. Is it all justified. Her new movie, Australia, is a blockbuster and has received raving reviews however Kidman has still endured attacks on her acting ability. Perhaps its all out of jealousy over her good looks and million dollar movies. Or perhaps it’s an attack on Australia itself.

It seems to be pretty popular these days to attack celebrities. Publishing embarrassing photos, or taking quotes out of context, or simply poking them until they react. I think it’s pretty sad that a few people feel the need to tear down others to make themselves feel good.

Nicole Kidman is an accomplished actress with an Oscar (among other awards and nominations). You don’t survive long in Hollywood unless you have some ability. IMDB

Mount Isla on the map

November 24, 2008 at 3:40 pm (Australia, News, health) (, , , , )

Mayor John Moloney put Mount Isa on the map. Despite winning a sexist award for his poorly chosen words while trying to promote his town at least he’s trying. ‘A’ for effort, ‘F’ for execution. Moloney was the focus of the Ernie Awards. In Mount Isla men outnumber women Moloney was trying to attract women, any women, to come to his town. Hey, if you have enough guys in a small area for a long enough time, a sausage party is bound to break out. Sometimes you gotta take one for the team and that’s what Moloney did.

Despite his notoriety, he’ll probably be the mayor of Mount Isla for a long time. Let’s hope there are some really desperate women out there that flock to the little town and give them men some sexual relief. Wonder what the sales of sex dolls are like in this town?

Catfight! Lindsay Lohan vs Scarlett Johansson

November 20, 2008 at 9:17 pm (Entertainment, News) (, , , , )

lindsaylohan

Meow! Talk about catty. This all started when Lindsay Lohan made some disparaging comments about Scarlett Johansson. Calling her ugly, fat, and scribbling the words ‘Scarlett is a cunt‘ on the bathroom wall of a New York night club. Wow, talk about a classy girl. Could it be plain jealousy? I bet secretly Lilo has got it bad for her and is tired of licking Sarah’s carpet. Me thinks she’s got an itching for some Scarlett carpet baby! Oh yeah!

scarlettjohanssonLet’s see Lindsay’s done drugs, alcohol, and is a terrible actress. Scarlett is classy, totally hot, has style, and a good actress. Hmm, seems like a slam dunk. Scarlett took the high road when responding to Lindsay’s comments in a recent US Weekly interview. Did I mention Scarlett has boobies? and nice ones? Ryan Reynolds is one lucky bastard.

Protecting personal data with multiple drives

November 18, 2008 at 6:04 pm (Technology) (, , , , , , , , )

Fact: hard drives fail. It’s pretty much a guarantee that you will have a hard drive crash or become corrupted during your lifetime. Most fail right when the manufacturer’s warranty ends and it can be a very frustrating experience. The good news is protecting your data can be a very simple process, you just need to implement it.

First of all, what is a RAID? The term ‘RAID’ stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. Using at least 2 hard drives anyone can setup a RAID array to protect data. In a RAID 1 utilizes 1 disk to copy all of the data from the other disk. This way you can ensure that you always have a backup. The term is commonly referred to as “mirroring” or a “mirror RAID”. It is important to note that you are doubling you drive capacity and only 1 of the drives can be used actively while the other is solely for the use of keeping a copy of drive 1.

Of course, this kind of setup is no infallible. RAID can and do fail. If your RAID 1 has stopped functioning you should seek out a professional RAID 1 data recovery specialist to ensure your data is recovered.

Scammers: what would you do for a new pair?

November 17, 2008 at 10:18 pm (Australia, Crime, News, Technology) (, , , , , , , )

It never ceases to amaze my how people are tricked online. Scammers will try anything in the book to get money from desperate people with money to spare. Whether it’s a “Nigerian prince” or a woman claiming to have cancer you can never believe what people say online. Jaimi Carlin scammed a man out of $35,000 after meeting him on a dating site (presumably for sex) and then tried to blackmail him for more. She promptly spent the money on a boob job and liposuction (undoubtedly to remove all of that excess fat). Of course the law caught up with her and now her 8 year old daughter might be caught in the crossfire.

A few quick rules about online dating. Don’t give out personal information (until you have talked over the phone, or met up, still it’s risky), don’t ever give money (regardless of their sob story), if you hook up be suspicious if she’s “too good to be true” (ie. gorgeous and completely in love with you, that never happens in real life).
