Sign of the times

Everyone wants to be famous in one way or another. Whether you’re some redneck talking to a local news channel about the tornado that touched down in your trailer park or you’re that dumbass who walks in the background, everyone is trying to get on tv. Now becoming famous has become as simple as turning on your webcam. Is this the sign of the times? Are we that shallow of a species? Take for example the Chk chk boom girl. Appearing on a news interview about a reported shooting it turns out she made the whole thing up. Despite this, she turned out to be an Internet phenomenon. I guess it didn’t hurt that she was mildly pretty. Offers rolled in, and now what? It this all a little silly? What sort of message does this give to society? Perhaps we should stop watching tv and youtube videos and take a long hard look in the mirror. What have we become? Is this the sign of the times?

Recession? What recession?

May 4, 2009 at 1:47 pm (Australia) (, , , )

Got money to burn? Apparently 1 particular Australian buyer is willing and able to blow $4 million on a new car. Not just any car, an Aston Martin One – 77. The car was unveiled in Italy last weekend. The One-77 will be a limited edition of just 77 and the car company is looking for some stupid rich sucker millionaires.

An Australian buyer has already put down a $200,000 deposit. Delivery is expected next year along with the remaining balance of $3.8 million. Sure it’s hand built, more expensive than the Bugatti Veyron or Ferrari Enzo, and sure it can probably go really fast. But $4 million?! During this economic downturn? Please, spend responsibly. Only the essentials. Beer and strippers.
