Comedian Bernie Mac passes away suddenly
The actor and comedian died from complications from pneumonia in a Chicago hospital. He was 50.
The award-winning actor was admitted to hospital with pneumonia on August 1, but his publicist issued a statement saying he was expected to recover.
Following Mac’s sudden death, his castmates in the three Ocean’s film expressed their grief.
“The world just got a little less funny,” Clooney said.
“He will be dearly missed.’
Pitt added: “I lament the loss of a ferociously funny and hardcore family man. My thoughts are with (Mac’s wife) Rhonda and their family. Bernie Mac, you are missed.”
Don Cheadle, who also starred in the Ocean’s trilogy, said: “This is a very sad day for many of us who knew and loved Bernie. He brought so much joy to so many. He will be missed but heaven just got funnier.” (news)
Wife guilty of husband’s bondage death
A woman will spend a year behind bars after being found guilty of the manslaughter of her husband, who died during a kinky bondage session.
A Supreme Court jury in Brisbane took less than a day to find Jean Margaret Meiers, 58, guilty of manslaughter.
During the three-day trial the court was told 47-year-old Geoffrey Braunack died at the couple’s secluded home at Beerburrum on the Sunshine Coast on November 1, 2004.
The court was told Meiers failed in her duty of care after taping Mr Braunack’s mouth and using rope, tape and a dog chain to tie him to a concrete post on the patio.
She then left him tied up while she took a shower. (news)
Police searching for Terrence Borg
Police are searching for a man in connection with the death of a woman in her fifties, whose body was found in a car parked outside a railway station north of Sydney.
The body of the woman was found by a passer-by in a car parked off Dangar Street, Brooklyn, at 4.30pm (AEST) yesterday afternoon.
Police said they were treating the death as suspicious and were looking for 51-year-old Terrence Borg, who they said may be able to help them with their inquiries.
He has been described as being 170cm tall, of medium build and having grey, collar-length hair. (news)
2 die from salmonella poisoning
2 elderly residents have died after salmonella poisoning struck an Adelaide aged care home.
A third resident is being treated in hospital following the isolated outbreak that poisoned 20 people in the hills facility, South Australia’s chief medical officer Paddy Phillips said.
“One resident died this morning whilst being treated in hospital,” Professor Phillips said.
“The death has been referred to the coroner.
“Another resident receiving palliative care for another condition at the nursing home died this morning.
“Our sincerest condolences go out to their loved ones at this time.” (news)
