Paul Newman has only a few weeks to live
Paul Newman has finished chemotherapy and has told his family he wants to die at home.
The Oscar-winning actor was pictured being pushed from a New York cancer hospital in a wheelchair.
Yesterday, it was reported in America that Newman, 83, had only weeks to live and had returned home to his wife, Joanne Woodward.
“Paul didn’t want to die in the hospital,” a source said. “Joanne and his daughters are beside themselves with grief.”
The source, described as a close family friend, said that the star had spent the past few weeks getting his affairs in order. (news)
Jason Paul Anza charged after sex with teen
A 35 yr old Perth man has been jailed for having sex with a 14-year-old girl he met on the internet and persuaded to pose for explicit photos.
Mechanic Jason Paul Anza was today sentenced to 34 months, with a non-parole period of 17 months, after pleading to numerous charges of indecent dealings with a minor.
Anza had digital and oral sex with the teenager in a car and at a friend’s home in October 2006, where they took the girl after he met her on the adult chat website Red Hot Pie.
The girl, who called herself sexy blonde 123, posted her age on the website as 20-years-old.
The court was told Anza had rung the family when he had doubts about the girl’s stated age, and had been told by her brother that she was 14. (news)
Paul Newman has cancer
A longtime neighbor and business partner of Paul Newman said Wednesday that the actor has cancer, a day after FOXNews.com reported that the screen legend was seeing an oncologist for lung cancer.
Writer A.E. Hotchner, who partnered with Newman, 83, to start the Newman’s Own salad dressing company in the 1980s, told the Associated Press that Newman told him about the disease about 18 months ago. He didn’t say what kind of cancer.
Late Tuesday, the screen legend issued a statement to the Associated Press that he is “doing nicely.” A spokesman for Newman, Jeff Sanderson, issued the one-line statement.
Newman has been in and out of New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering hospital for treatment, FOXNews.com reported. (news)
McCartney Mills divorce final
The ill-fated marriage of former Beatle Paul McCartney and his estranged wife Heather Mills came to a formal end during a 30-second hearing at London’s High Court on Monday.
Justice Hugh Bennett said the petition for divorce by Mills was granted on the grounds that the couple had lived apart for two years.
Neither McCartney nor Mills were in court for the decree nisi.
Bennett said: “On the petition for divorce presented by Miss Heather Mills, I pronounce the decree nisi of divorce on the grounds of two years’ separation.
“Sir Paul McCartney has consented to the decree being granted on these grounds.” (news)
Paul Hanley, tennis player, facing date rape charge
An Australian tennis star is facing date rape allegations in Britain.
Melbourne-born Paul Hanley, 30, is on bail in London after a woman in her 20s claimed to have been sexually assaulted, The Sun newspaper reports.
It’s alleged Hanley invited the woman back to his home after they met at a bar near the All England Club in Wimbledon.
She later made a complaint to police, The Sun reports.
A file has been sent to prosecutors, and Hanley, who lives at Sutton in south London, has been bailed to report to police next month.
Hanley is a doubles specialist and has been an Australian Davis Cup squad regular since 2006. (news)
