Blaine survives “stunt”, still lags behind Angel

September 25, 2008 at 5:36 pm (Entertainment) (, , , , , , , , )

David Blaine’s latest stunt called the “Dive of Death” ended Wednesday night after 60 hours in Central Park. The show ended during a 2 hour tv special which had footage of Blaine interacting with fans. His other stunts include: 61 hours in a block of ice, a week underwater, suspended over the Thames River, and buried alive. It’s a sad line of stunts which shows how desperate he is.

His popularity is falling behind that of Cris Angel. Maybe he needs a reality tv show to boost his popularity. His death defying stunts need actual “death” to wow the crowds and not just a weird factor. The age of the magician is over, the reality tv star has taken over. Where’s David Copperfield when you need him?

August 21, 2008 at 2:24 pm (Crime, Entertainment, News) (, , , , , , , , , )

Dannii Minogue fled the set of a British TV talent show audition in terror after being threatened by a contestant’s family.

Minogue had been judging performers in a round of auditions for the X Factor when she used her casting vote to stop a male singer from going through to the next round.

Her vote angered not only the singer but his family as well, who waited to confront her.

The 36-year-old has told a Scottish newspaper she was “petrified” as the singer and his family tried to corner her.

She says she only felt safe enough to return after fellow judge Simon Cowell agreed to lend her his hefty bodyguard. (news)

August 1, 2008 at 3:04 pm (Australia, Entertainment, News) (, , , , , , , , , , )

The female state government minister at the centre of the latest scandal surrounding TV personality Sam Newman says only he knows the true meaning of his “stupid and inappropriate” comments.

Newman made the remarks on last night’s episode of Channel 9’s Footy Show.

“In my mind, Mr Newman made a stupid and inappropriate comment, and perhaps in the future he will be more careful about what he chooses to say,” said Paula Wriedt, Tasmania’s Minister for Economic Development and Tourism.

“I have received numerous emails today expressing disgust at what Mr Newman said, and I would point out that many of these have been sent by men concerned at the nature of the comments.” (news)

TV farmer needs to work on social skills

July 23, 2008 at 7:14 pm (Australia, Entertainment, News) (, , , , , , , , , )

If tv farmer and Deniliquin desperado James is wondering why he’s hit a dry spell with the ladies, he might perhaps consider whether it has something to do with what’s coming out of his mouth.

Dissing the women he’s meant to be wooing on Nine’s matchmaker series, The Farmer Wants A Wife, the 36-year-old sheep and wheat man has dipped himself in it by blasting his two “picks”.

Suffering from a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease, James first bagged one suitor, Cherie, as being “rough as guts”, then condemned the other, Toni, as no more than an aging “body clock”. (news)

Viewers in Britain reject ‘Neighbours’ for being too white

July 18, 2008 at 5:42 pm (Australia, Entertainment, News) (, , , , , , , , , )

Hit Australian TV soap Neighbours has been branded “too white” by black and Asian viewers in Britain.

A report by the nation’s racial equality chief found many ethnic viewers felt were under-represented in some of Britain’s most popular shows.

Neighbours, which is screened on the Five network, and the BBC comedy The Vicar of Dibley starring Dawn French were singled out for being “all white”.

Other popular soaps including the BBC’s Eastenders and ITV’s Coronation Street also came under attack for including stereotypical characters such as Asian shopkeepers and black single mums. (news)
